History

1986

Impulse Engineering limited was formed in 1986 by incorporation as a private limited company registered in England. Its operational base and headquarters are located in Bordon, Hampshire, United Kingdom.

1987

The business moved to the well established Woolmer Trading Estate, Bordon Hampshire. Contracts of interest included Specialist Term Electrical Contract for the Department of Transport at the Transport & Road Research Laboratory and the well known lighthouse that featured in the childrens TV programme "Fraggel Rock".
NICEIC certification obtained.

1989

A major contract for the Central Computer & Telecommunications Agency (UK Gov) installing systems on UK and German RAF bases.

1990

Impulse wins a substantial national support contract.

1991

After many visits working on government agency contracts in eastern Europe, Impulse Security Systems was formed and operated as a joint venture subsidiary of Impulse UK.

1992

Contracts won in the year included a production plant in the Dominican Republic and the well known Bishop Rock lighthouse.

1993

Impulse acquired a vehicle contract and self drive hire company now know as Impulse Fleet Management Limited.

1994

Eric Newman took control of the business and started restructuring its future. Appointing new directors and consultants, a program of radical change was embarked upon. The market had changed and Impulse Engineering needed to be more focussed on its core business of providing turnkey solutions to fire and security engineering requirements.

1995

FM200 fire suppression systemThe IT engineering and sales activity transferred into a new venture named The Technology Centre. TTC was created to serve the SOHO market for information technology services.

Company awarded what is believed to be the first supply install and commission contract for an FM200® fire suppression system on an offshore installation.

 

1996

Impulse win a substantial contract to design, supply and install 40 networked analogue fire detection and alarm systems in the Falkland Islands. The National Trust joins a growing list of high quality clients that have been served by the company.

1997

Company awarded contract by the Falkland Island Government Air Service for the provision of fire detection and alarm systems at their international airport in Port Stanley.

1998The company quality assurance system written to BS5750 and adopted in 1994 is finally certified to ISO9000 by the BSI. Certificate Number FS45210.
1999The company purchases the freehold of Crabtree House in Headley, Hampshire. The new head office location being within a couple of miles of the existing office. The company relocates all office and support staff, opening at Crabtree House on the 14th June.
2000Impulse are awarded a design, supply and install contract by the Ministry of Defence for 35 fire and intruder detection systems. The sites are located from the Scottish islands to the Mediterranean.

2001

Impulse retains its interest in the Fleet Management company, Technology Centre and eastern European joint venture, although they are all peripheral to the main activity, which is firmly based in, engineering quality systems that provide fire protection and security - Protecting your assets
